Karen Miller’s artwork reflects the beauty of her surrounding valley of North Park in the northern Colorado mountains. She pulls her inspiration from nature: its colors, its patterns, its light. While oil paints are her favorite media, she also enjoys working with pastels and sometimes watercolors and colored pencil.
Besides plein air painting, Karen’s greatest pleasure is working on special projects for people. Examples of commissions she has done are: ranch portraits, paintings of old homestead cabins, people and pet portraits, and doing full color oil paintings from small snapshots, such as a child catching his first fish, or a couple dancing at their wedding (for their 25th anniversary).
